Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Oh, Lord, through the revolution.
These are the opening lyrics to the song “Fly Like An Eagle” released by the Steve Miller Band towards the latter part of the Peace and Love Movement inspired by the now iconic hippies. Although not a terribly deep song, its purpose was to evoke sentiments of revolution through human enlightenment and socialism. Well, there is a new movement, a new revolution brewing and it comes from believers in Jesus Christ who believe His words in scripture and have correctly discerned the times and season of His return for His bride. This is NOT a church movement. This is a move of the Holy Spirit. In the last post we shared that we believe we can stake claim to the verse in the book of Acts in a very relevant way:
Acts 2:17 (CEB)
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young will see visions. Your elders will dream dreams.
Yes, the Holy Spirit has been (and continues) waking the Bride of Jesus to prepare for His soon return. The method of His return is clear in scripture.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NKJV)
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
This truth is comforting. Jesus is going to catch away born again believers in what most call the Rapture. We prefer the Greek word Harpazo because it literally means “catching away”. The Harpazo is our HOPE in this lost and dying world. Yes, while we wait, we need to continue to occupy this world through being guided by His Holy Spirit and reaching out to others in love with this blessed Hope….. but, we need to remember Jesus promised He would return and we should continue to watch for Him.
Acts 1:9-11 (NKJV) Jesus Ascends to Heaven
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
As time continues to slip into the future, the darkness will grow.
Isaiah 60:2 (NKJV)
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the LORD will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
However, we have a “hope of glory” which is “Christ in us”. (Colossians 1:27, more on that in a future post.)
In this world we DO have tribulation. But, as things in the world continue to ‘speed up’ with natural disasters, storms, chaos in global financial markets, terrorist attacks, and threats of nuclear wars, we are reminded of Jesus’ words in Rev. 22:20 “Surely I am coming quickly.” (Quickly is the Greek word, tachys, which means rapidly, or swiftly. This is also the root word for a tachometer, which measures the rate of revolutions.) So, as things ‘rev up’, Jesus is about to come upon the scene.
Our blessed hope may be a mocking point for those who have not accepted His promise to snatch us out of this world, but we are looking up and encourage you to ask Jesus to help you do the same. One day He will carry you away and you will truly be free.
Luke 21:28 (AMPC)
Now when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.
