Many of us feel anxious; perhaps even more anxious than ever. There are dangers everywhere. Some are perceived and some are concrete but they are there. There are wars, terrorism, violence on TV, violence in the streets. There are diseases and toxins. This is a huge part of the world in which we live! …. Yet, the apostle Paul tells us to be anxious for nothing. Really, is he serious? Don’t be afraid? Don’t get depressed? Is it even possible? The answer is a resounding YES. You can live without anxiety and you can do it without burying your head in the sand and denying reality. We would be liars if we told you the world is in good shape. Obviously it is not. Paul wasn’t a liar either. There was danger and persecution in his day but he knew the truth. It is the only truth that undoubtedly and unashamedly brings peace. That truth is Jesus Christ. We wrote last week about His protection. We urge you now to go to Him (abide in Him) Pray to Him. Give thanks to Him and if you are feeling anxious, ask Him to take the anxiety away and fill you with His peace. He is faithful and true. The following is a prayer you may want to use. Remember your relationship with Jesus and pray to Him (your best friend) with sincerity.
Dear Lord, I pray to you today full of thanksgiving for Your presence and Your love for me. I trust You, I love You, I believe Your promises to me and my loved ones. Even though the world around me is in strife and chaos, I won’t be afraid. I don’t have to be afraid because You are with me. I know You are my champion so who could hurt me? Help me to remain thankful and in Your presence. Help me to cast all my cares upon you because you care for me. Amen.
1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
